Also consider that most of these men have never lived in the “real world” in which you and I live. Yet, they are making decisions for and controlling the lives of some 7 million JW’s. Most of these men have never had to work an actual job to support themselves or a family, neither have they had to pay for housing. Living at the Watchtower provides them with free room and board, their meals are prepared, they have someone to do their laundry for them, do their dishes, put out the trash and clean their rooms. The list goes on and on. While they have taken a “vow of poverty” the infamous “green handshake,” the good ol’ tax free cash-ola which uncle Sam never hears about provides very well for the men of the GB, not to mention the brothers who are in the Circuit and District work. All of this is provided at the expense of the rank and file JW which is consistently told to work less and do more and more for the organization. The economy in which you and I live, in many ways has no effect on the daily lives of the GB whatsoever because their resources are virtually unlimited.

David Splane, born in 1944 started pioneering in September 1963. A graduate of the 42nd class of Gilead, he served as a missionary in Senegal, Africa, then for 19 years in the circuit work in Canada. He and his wife have been at Bethel in the United States since 1990, where Splane has worked in the Service and Writing departments. Since 1998, he had been a helper to the Writing Committee. Announcement for appointment to the Governing Body was made at the annual meeting on Saturday, October 2, 1999. (Watchtower 1/1/2000 page 29)
Mr. David Splane has been at Bethel for the last 30 years where his health care is paid for, has free room and board, has 3 free meals per day, probably has an automobile with free insurance, no laundry, house duties, or house repairs.
He wakes up each morning without a financial care in the world. His workload is to prepare convention talks like this one where the whole objective is to make members feel guilty about missing boring and repetitive meetings while the unemployed are trying to provide financially for their families!

You've been out of work for months. You felt helpless because a family member is supposed to provide for his family. It would take a lot of faith for you to refuse that job. Pray to Jehovah and then wait. Hold on a little longer to see what Jehovah would work out for you.''
Here is Mr. Splane ( smug and out of touch ) telling Jehovah's Witness members who have lost their jobs during this pandemic to refuse any employment which would interfere with meetings and field service. Jehovah will/ can/might/should/ provide for you with future employment. He doesn't explain how Jehovah would help and provide for you.
Mr. Splane fails to see that he has a roof over his head, food, medical care, auto, and insurance provided for him. Your problems are not his problems.
Mr. Splane..if tomorrow you were kicked out from your cushy assignment, where would you go to pay all your expenses? Would you refuse employment? How would Jehovah provide for you? At your age Mr. Splane, the odds of you finding employment would be close to zero.

So how can we answer Jesus’ question: “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?” (Matt. 24:45) What evidence is there that the Governing Body is filling that role? 4 Consider, too, the fact that Jehovah’s organization alone, in all the earth, is directed by God’s holy spirit or active force. (Zech. 4:6) Only this organization functions for Jehovah’s purpose and to his praise. To it alone God’s Sacred Word, the Bible, is not a sealed book. Many persons of the world are very intelligent, capable of understanding complex matters. They can read the Holy Scriptures, but they cannot understand their deep meaning. Yet God’s people can comprehend such spiritual things. Why? Not because of special intelligence on their part, but as the apostle Paul declared: “For it is to us God has revealed them through his spirit, for the spirit searches into all things, even the deep things of God.” (1 Cor. 2:10) Jesus Christ praised his heavenly Father for ‘hiding such things from the wise and intellectual ones but revealing them to babes.’ (Matt. 11:25) How very much true Christians appreciate associating with the only organization on earth that understands the “deep things of God”!

3 Many of these dear brothers and sisters who have become inactive do come back to the congregation, where they are most welcome! Jehovah wants them to come back, and so do we. (1 Pet. 2:25) How can we help? Before we answer that question, it would be good to know why some stop attending meetings and sharing in the ministry.
Some have become absorbed in secular work.
Some brothers and sisters are overwhelmed by problems.
Some of Jehovah’s servants have felt hurt by a fellow believer.
Or a guilty conscience may torment a person who has broken God’s law in the past, making him feel unworthy of God’s love.
The writer of Psalm 73 became discouraged when he observed how the wicked seemed to flourish. He questioned whether doing God’s will was worthwhile.
The prophet Elijah fled from Queen Jezebel. (1 Ki. 19:1-3) He thought that nobody else was serving as a prophet for Jehovah, and he felt that his work had served no purpose. Elijah became so depressed that he wanted to die.
